Ingredients (for the dough)

  • 400 g of pre cooked corn flour
  • 450cc of warm wáter
  • 1 teaspoon of salt


Ingredients (for the pebre)

  • 1 tin of Pimientos Morrones Dos caballos (185g)
  • 4 tomatoes
  • 4 chilean spicy chili peppers
  • 1 onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • Juice of 2 lemons
  • 250g of coriander
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Merkén chili pepper to taste (optional)
  • Oil to taste

Preparation (arepitas)

  1. In a bowl, mix the pre cooked corn flour with the water and salt until you get a soft and firm textura.
  2. Form Little balls of dough using your hands, squash them to give the shape of an arepa.
  3. Hat the oil in a pan, and cook each arepita on médium heat for 5 minutes on each side.
  4. Take the arepitas out of the pan and dry the remaining oil with a paper towel.


Preparation (pebre)

  1. Cut the tomatoes into small pieces, the chillis, onion, red peppers  (pimientos morrones), coriander and garlic. Then put them in a bowl.
  2. In the same bowl, pour the olive oil, lemon juice, add salt, pepper and merkén chili pepper to taste
  3. Mix well.
